Green People Rosemary Shampoo Product Review

Last year I chronicled my search for the perfect organic shampoo on JolieNadine.com and found that some organic shampoos worked better than others. However, I have now found a wonderful organic shampoo which not only foams, but foams entirely from natural derivatives. Green People’s Rosemary Shampoo is AMAZING. The smell, the lather, the way my hair feels is fantastic. The natural foaming agents that Green People use are made from corn or coconut - Decyl glucoside, Sodium cocoamphoacetate, and Cocamidopropyl betainamide mea chloride all of which score a 0 or a 1 on a toxicity scale of 10 according to the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database.
I can’t say how pleased I was by my discovery because most organic shampoos will require you to use half the bottle to get the same amount of foam as a teaspoon of normal shampoo, or worse yet some “organic” shampoos can contain harsh detergents like Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) or less harsh derivatives like Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate (ALS). Products only need to contain one certified organic ingredient to call themselves organic. For a better understanding on the differences between SLS and ALS, check out the Green People’s blog.
I was recently very sad to discover that a favorite organic shampoo had ALS in it. (Why Neal’s Yard? Why did you have to do it?!) I hope that more companies will get on board with natural foaming agents. Green People have shown that vegetables can do the trick, so there’s no more excuses!

Organic shampoos are the best!
As the market evolves it is getting easier to produce amazing organic shampoos, best to get one certified by a leading organic body to be sure the ingredients are organic and natural.
wow... excellent info about being conscious about a shampoo product's ingredients. i guess corn and coconut are truly one of nature's greatest gift to mankind.
let's all avoid synthetic ingredients in shampoos that can do more damage to the hair!
