Jane Iredale Cosmetics Product Review
Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 6:57PM I’ve been devoted to Bare Minerals mineral makeup for almost 7 years now. However I felt it was time to diversify my mineral makeup regime and try something new. The ladies at Jane Iredale were happy to oblige and sent me some lovely products to try.
PurePressed Base mineral powder in golden glow – I really liked the ease of use of this product. Since it is in pressed form it doesn’t spill everywhere and travels well. Its gorgeous gold compact makes you feel luxurious. It goes on smoothly, with less need for buffing a la Bare Minerals style and I loved the Handi brush which is exactly just that. Very handy indeed! With SPF 20 for both UVA and UVB rays this mineral base is great for protecting against the sun’s rays.
On my eyes I’m wearing Eye Steppes goGreen eyeshadow in Iris, Sepia, and Slate (in the crease). Again I love the easy to use packaging. There are 3 trays that swivel outwards and a mirror in the top compartment. The colors are gorgeous and great for day wear. They don’t build up for deep color like you can do with Bare Minerals eye shadows which can be really fun for evening looks. However, I was won over with the ease in application and beautiful green packaging. There is a compact for each eye color. My eyecolor is a weird hybrid that turns different colors depending on what I’m wearing so the goGreen compact really brought out the green in my eyes.
Mystikol powdered eyeliner and highlighter in dark topaz – This was probably my least favorite product since it’s a bit tricky to use. Mystikol is a double ended eyeliner and highlighter pen. This pen only does one look – smoky, high glam eyes. It’s near impossible to get a thin subtle line. You’re pretty much relegated to bold, evening eyes. Pros- the eyeliner blends really nicely. Cons- the eyeliner tends to migrate to other parts of your face over the course of the day.
Overall, I really liked the Jane Iredale offering. On my lashes to polish off the look I’m wearing the Longest Lash thickening and lengthening mascara. Two thumbs up I say!
