I was really pleased to stumble upon the Waterloo Body Station in London. The Body Station is a natural spa and shop with a huge variety of treatments and products. From complementary therapies such as osteopathy, acupuncture, and something called “cupping therapy” (I have no idea!) to massage and advanced body work such as deep tissue massage, Reiki, and aromatherapy (yippee!). I had something a bit more superficial in mind – natural beauty therapies. I was on a mission to remove body hair and make my feet pretty for my upcoming Caribbean holiday.
First we got the tricky stuff over with: bikini, leg, and underarm sugar waxing using Moom (which isn't a wax but a natural hair remover made from sugar, lemon juice, water, and lavender essential oil). I've been trying to perfect my own recipe for a while now, which if I ever do you'll be the first to hear of it! But you can read review about Moom here.
My lovely therapist Harminder navigated me through some unchartered waters – my first Brazilian. Although I'm more than 10 years behind this trend, I will just say that I'm not sure why we're doing this ladies? Seriously, why?
Now on to more pleasant topics – my Power Butter Pedicure. 60 minutes of pure heaven! This started with applying Be natural callus eliminator professional formula to my callouses, of which there were many. After 12 years of stuffing my poor feet in pointe shoes, they are not pretty! After letting the callus eliminator work its magic for 5 minutes, my calluses were buffed to within an inch of their lives. After more soaking, filing, cuticle removing, vigorous scrubbing with Tamu foot scrub, and then application of Tamu avocado oil and a lovely massage with Tamu Triple Butter cream with shea butter, my feet have never been so soft in their lives. They also felt about 2 kilos lighter for all the dead skin that had been removed!
Now for the finishing touch - Opi 3-free base/top coat was applied with 2 coats of Zoya 3-free varnish in a bright pink and another coat of Opi 3-free base/top coat. I love a product that multi-tasks (and doesn't contain toxic chemicals! A little reminder why we like 3-free on my Butter London review.
All in all, Waterloo Body Station is a little slice of natural health and beauty heaven. Owner Rebecca keeps the shop stocked with great natural beauty brands such as Green People, Tisserand, and Pure Lochside just to name a few. She told me that she only buys British manufactured brands for sustainability reasons and so that she can keep tabs on where ingredients come from (ideally, locally). Great products/services, great ethos!
